The University of Alabama will offer for sale merchantable timber, as designated by the University Forester, on tracts located in Sumter, Shelby, Bibb, Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Walker, Winston, and Marion Counties. The timber will be sold by sealed bids which will be publicly opened at the Office of Land Management on the University of Alabama campus, 401 Queen City Avenue, in Tuscaloosa at 10:00 a.m. on April 5, 2019. Bids should be delivered to that office on or before that time, sent by email to sperry@fa.ua.edu, Fax to 205-348-6737, or sent by mail to The University of Alabama, Office of Land Management, P.O. Box 870176, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35487-0176. Only bids which are submitted on the bid form prepared by the Office of Land Management will be considered. No verbal or phone bids will be accepted. If a bid is mailed, the bid should be posted in sufficient time to insure its receipt prior to the bid submission deadline of 10:00 a.m., April 5, 2019. Mailed bids should be marked “TIMBER BID, 04-05-2019” in the lower left-hand corner to insure bid security.
A Performance Deposit in the amount of $3,500 will be required of the successful bidder to guarantee its fulfillment of the terms of the sale contact. The deposit will be required at time of execution of timber contract. An additional Timber Deposit of $10,000 will be required for New River Pay As Cut Final Harvest in Marion County only. A Timber Deposit will not be required for any other Pay as Cut sale. Consideration and approval of the successful bid will be done June 6-7, 2019, by the University of Alabama Board of Trustees.
It shall be the responsibility of the bidder to determine to his own satisfaction the volume of the timber offered for sale.
*Lump Sum and Pay as Cut Final Harvest – Term of contract will be 24 months.
*Pay as Cut Real Estate Cut and Pine Thinnings – Term of contract will be 18 months.
The lump sum sale payment and Timber Deposit will be required in full upon execution of the contract.
The University reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities.
